I’m Caroline, an artist and media producer based in Berlin, Germany. I use this website to document my work with clay and other materials. My work is divided into three different directions: Functional ceramics: Under the label coucou, I produce quirky&nbsp; designs at the interplay of form and colour. Sculptural ceramics: My handbuildt sculptures are timeless morphs which seek to engage with the viewer by&nbsp;tapping into the consciousness of what is known/common/familiar, while also tickling the curiosity towards&nbsp;the unknown/alien/weird. Drawn to more abstract&nbsp;references to the anthropomorphic as well as non-human&nbsp;life forms, my pieces incorporate communicative&nbsp;elements that are an inquiry into me and you, us and&nbsp;them, the thisworldly and the otherwordly. Material experiments: Over the past years, I have increasingly become interested in circular material practices and the reactivation of waste. Recent experiments focus on bio-based composites made from paper and wood fibers, organic residues such as coffee grounds, and organic starches. These processes extend my ceramic thinking into low-energy material systems suitable for larger functional and sculptural objects.
